ABOUT GAUTENG PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) is constitutionally mandates to pass legislation, provide a forum for public debate, involve the public in the law-making process, and oversee the activities of the provincial executive. The Committee Meeting Room in their chambers in Johannesburg hosts high-level meetings between the legislature’s elected committee members and provincial cabinet members.
Clayton Communications was commissioned to deliver, install, programme and train GPL personnel on a conference system with meeting recording and integrate that system with video conferencing. The system needed to be designed and installed in a historically significant room with traditional wood panelling and little in the way of cable provision, so the design process was especially important for the physical installation.
The conference system was delivered on time, within budget and fully met the customer’s requirements. The two systems consist of:
- 37x installed delegate discussion units
- 1x installed chairman discussion unit
- 1x conference controller with recording
- 1x WXGA projector with ceiling mounting
- 1x motorised projection screen
- 1x video conference dome camera
- 1x video conference codec
Our project manager consulted at length with the customer’s consultants to ensure the system met all their meeting and conferencing requirements whilst respecting the architecture of the historic building.
The conference systems have provided the client with full functionality for their meeting requirements and enhanced their meetings within the Committee Room as well as their meetings with remote sites using the video conference system. The full training sessions provided by Clayton Communications ensured that the system was used to its full potential and gave the customer the functionality and performance required.
